Welcome to the Ardingly Farmhouse Nursery

  • Our outdoor classroom has a stream with a bridge to creep across to avoid any possible trolls! It's a great area for story telling.
  • Cyril's Wood is named after Cyril the Squirrel who lives in the forest. It is our Forest School area.
  • The Bluebell Woods are absolutely stunning during the Spring months. We always admire the beautiful Redwood tree.
  • The Headmaster's Field is an uphill trek but the children we love running up to the Prep School this way.
  • Nine Acre is full of sports fields. We use the wonderful Pavilion down there.
  • The Reservoir is a 25 minute (with little legs) walk from The Farmhouse. We often visit it to roll down the hill and explore the local countryside!
  • We have lots of things to play with an on in our private nursery playground, including a pirate ship.
  • We often walk up to the Prep School to see visiting authors or to explore the grounds. We love finding conkers.
  • We have a lovely, warm, clean indoor swimming pool for our weekly lessons.
  • The College's beautiful Chapel. Nursery watch the Key Stage 1 Nativity each Christmas.
The Ardingly Farmhouse Nursery is part of the Pre-Prep School at Ardingly College.
Set within the College's grounds it benefits from the extensive grounds, sports facilities and on-site catering, but is self contained, with it's own multi-use hall, classrooms and outdoor play areas, within a safe, secures setting.

The Farmhouse is conveniently located between Haywards Heath and East Grinstead towns and close to the lovely villages of Lindfield, Cuckfield, Horsted Keynes, Scaynes Hill and West Hoathley. We offer a choice of child care options ranging from a couple of sessions per week, to a full week of child care with extended days for working parents.

Caring staff in a warm and welcoming environment

At Ardingly, we all work hard to provide a truly supportive atmosphere. Highly-trained and experienced staff help children settle into school life. A staff –to-pupil ratio of one to four for our youngest children ensures we can really care for your child and get to know them properly from day one.

Stimulating setting

The enclosed outdoor play area overlooks an area of outstanding natural beauty and encourages the children to explore both inside and out. It’s a safe, but stimulating environment.  Our forests, ponds, rivers and meadows encourage the children to love the world they live in.

There’s a wide range of activities, indoors and out, building confidence and ability to take risks.
Boys and girls are kept busy in their small groups cooking, gardening, making music, or simply enjoying each other’s company.

Although each group has its own special room, Pre-Nursery and Nursery children have plenty of time to mingle and play together.

Plenty of healthy snacks and drinks provide fuel for fun and learning. Stay for lunch and tuck into a healthy, freshly-prepared hot meal.

Keeping you in the loop

Is this your first experience of education for your child? You’ll want to be kept properly up-to-date and informed. Rest assured, there is ample one-to-one communication, Tapestry (your child's online learning journal) weekly newsletters, curriculum information and events to keep you in touch. Together, we can ensure your child has the best possible experience.

Wrap around care

We provide childcare for working parents with 'Before School Care', from 8.00am, and an 'After School Care' facility from 3.15 pm till 6pm.  Additional charges apply for After School Care.

From our Nursery School, your child can move up to the Pre-Prep and continue their education in a familiar and supportive environment.
